The new/old bike is almost ready to ride. Today I purchased some new tires, tubes, brake pads, and a bike pump. Unfortunately the pump (and I should have known this) is not strong enough to handle putting 110 psi into the tubes. At a certain point the air starts hissing out from the seals in the pump. I have a feeling it would be fine for a mountain bike or beach cruiser, but not for low volume/high pressure set ups.
So, tomorrow, I will head back to the bike shop with the pump packed back up and hope they accept returns/exchanges for the stand up floor pump that is twice as expensive. If not, well, Ill be selling a hand pump on craigslist in Paris.
